It looks like this bug requests a backport from Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid
Ibex). However, as Intrepid is no longer supported, such a backport is
no longer possible.

virtualbox-ose requires yasm <= 0.7 which isn't available in hardy. It
might build against the version in hardy, or a backport of yasm may be
required.

Has the backport procedure changed since [1]?
Previously, there would have been (at minimum) more activity on this bug
by now and genreally the backport whould have been completed.
