Public bug reported: OS: Kubuntu 6.06 The openoffice version in the dapper repositories, 2.0.2 I think, crashes on large powerpoint presentations (80+ slides). The presentation opens for a few minutes and then closes with a kde program crash notification. The problem is fixed with openoffice 2.0.4, as I have installed it and checked. This is available in the edgy repositories.
The openoffice quickstarter in the dapper repositories, oooqs, does not work for openoffice 2.0.4 (it has absolutely no effect on openoffice 2.0.4 startup time). The latest version, oooqs2 does. This makes office work with openoffice far more manageable. Otherwise openoffice tends to be too clunky in it's startup time. I have tried installing the edgy version, but several libraries need to be backported for it to work correctly. I would greatly appreciate the backporting of this as it is an application necessary to most of the work I do with this OS. Most of my physics notes are large powerpoints that don't work with the existing openoffice 2.0.2 in the repositories. ** Affects: dapper-backports (upstream) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: OS: Kubuntu 6.06 The openoffice version in the dapper repositories, 2.0.2 I think, crashes on large powerpoint presentations (80+ slides).
