I have a customer using Joomla who is having the same issue, we're using
Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS -- a backported 1.4.5 for lucid would be very much
appreciated.

Thanks for the request. I just took a look at this as part of backports-
revival... Would it be possible to backport ubuntu1 from maverick
instead? Otherwise ubuntu2 would have to be backported to all
intervening releases to provide a proper upgrade path.

I had no trouble building and testing v1.4.5-1ubuntu2 on Lucid AMD64.
