I tested backuppc 3.2.0 from the PPA, directly on top of a fresh 10.04.2
server. Works well.

lucid w/backuppc-3.2.0 dist-upgrades to maverick without problems.
backuppc-3.2.0 installs and runs fine on a fresh maverick.
Upgrades backuppc-3.1.0 from maverick just fine.
All functionality still there, backups remain, and seem to work fine.

Ok, great - there's no need to re-test the build process, just the
packages that come out of the PPA.
Please let me know when you have a chance to verify the maverick

Compiles the package.

In order to ensure a working upgrade path, backuppc would need to be
backported to both lucid and maverick.
I've uploaded test backports of backuppc for both lucid and maverick to
my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/backports-tests). Please
verify that the build completes successfully,
