I was lucky that the iso image is ok... it burned just fine...
will give update about my hardy experience in a day after I try out majority
of the features...

Yes. My experience is not good. Coudn't install KUBUNTU REMIX. I could
boot as a Live CD, but could not install. Got 1 file error.

As Russell bhai suggested check the checksum.
You can also test the OS using some virtual machine to test it. (for
example: VirtualBox).
