I have an edge modem, chinese, which used to work in ubuntu 8.10. I had to
configure with modprobe setserial command. But the new kernel built into
9.04 had this module into the kernel, so it would not have been necessary,
as I learnt from forums, but my edge modem would not work. Infact, the

source n make ur own kernel. Start by making a small kernel,contain
only wat u need.

I get it. Actually I was thinking of reverting back to 8.10 version unless
this gets fixed. Tweaking kernel would be really interesting, maybe I would,
if no other solutions work.

Can you do this??
$ script procedure.txt
Then do all the commands that you used to do. When you are failed, Go
to your home folder and put the procedure.txt contents in a pastebin
(pastebin.ca, pastebin.com, pastie.textmate.org) and give us the link.
