saying that the directory could not be removed when i unmount any usb

I had 2 Hauppauge 150 cards in the system. When I removed them then
Ubuntu would load and upgrade properly. I was then able to put the cards
back in and the system would boot and not hang. The cards are not in the
same slots, don't know if slot placement matters.
