Neither the bug #434979 nor this one were random changes. I couldn't
confirm it in my 10.04 with the system monitor so I asked and I changed
to Incomplete and I thinks that's the right thing to do. Except that I
should have written in my comment that I didn't see this issue in recent
@Stenten: done and it doesn't fix the problem. I've also tried the following
with no success:
1. Remove splash
2. Remove quiet
3. Remove vt.handoff=7
4. Remove set gfxpayload=$linux_gfx_mode
5. Added vesafb.sucks=1 (per Sarvatt)

The comnbination of current java and current ubunto has a serious problem
with image display. Based on past experience, it's like the problem is in
scaling
and color convering full color images for presentation on 8 or 16 bit displays.

Use the Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e driver. It is a PCL-5e driver, but with
much better printout quality than Gutenprint. If it is not available
for your printer, choose the Generic PCL-5e printer as printer model.

Same here with a Samsung NP-N210 Plus, BIOS version 01KY. Kernel 2.6.34
