I just had a look again. A value of 0 renders a completely black screen. With a
value of 1 I can start seeing shapes.
Most of the time I work with a brightness between 100 and 200. Since the
functions key won't go that far, I use the prompt line. I thought that a

I have had this for awhile also,with Nvidia 7600gs and repo nvidia-
current driver , what I found is if I edit the line in
/boot/grub/grub.cfg that reads set gfxpayload=$linux_gfx_mode to set
gfxpayload=1920x1080 (my normal res ) I can boot normally . this has
persisted for the last several kernel
I had the same problem with the NC10 Plus, appening
intel_idle.max_cstate=0 to grub fixes the wakeup thing for me.

Wow. Even with a Karmic live session, wireless iwl3945 speed won't break
16 Mbps when right next to the router.
Compare that with 36 Mbps over ethernet through that very same router.
I can't help but wonder if the transition from ipw3945 is the
fundamental cause. I'll keep heading backwards.

After examining some of the printouts that were performed on my wife's
Windows machine, I noticed that text was not true black. Apparently,
something in Windows tells the printer to print black text with the
color cartridge when the black ink runs out. Linux doesn't do this,
hence the odd
Sounds like a KMS bug. Kernel drm needs to quirk off the phantom
output.
You will need to re-test this against natty. Make sure to run `apport-
collect 690552` to collect info the developers will require before they
can investigate the bug.

I downloaded the deb from natty repos and installed it manually in

This problem prompted me to order a new wireless card, Intel 5100. Only
cost about $10 on eBay so I figured it was worth a try. I'll be curious
to see if it helps or whether the Intel driver bug applies to other
cards as well.

The current machine I have doesn't give me any video in LM 9 or 10 so
the problem isn't relevant. I currently have Fedora installed on the

So i915 didn't load on 2.6.37-3, on 2.6.35-5.13 you got a crash which is
bug #676963 and was fixed on 2.6.37-5.14 and 2.6.37-7 appears to work.
One thing all 3 had in common is that vesafb did not get loaded at all.

starting with a stock alpha 1 install, installing 2.6.37-11-generic and
verifying it worked correctly, then just updating grub.

Maybe it would be nice for aptitude to pre-download the list of
changelog files along with the packages that can updated, and display it
all on one page even?
I think it would be more intuitive that way, than to navigate around the
list and downloading each change one by one by pressing C.
