When in 11.10 nvidia proprietary drivers were enabled, disabled nvidia
drivers and display looked blurry, then changed display adapter drivers
to post version nvidia proprietary and rebooted... now the brightness
changes sometimes... using the f1 and f2 keys shows the brightness bar
changing, but

I'm affected by this, too. Basically, any acceleration seems to be
problematic on NVA3 chips. Passing nouveau.noaccel=1 to kernel fixes
this: booting works normally, albeit X is unaccelerated.

David, the bash-completion package is installed. The completion works
normally for bash but not for apt-get.
The file /var/cache/apt/pkgcache.bin exists and its size is about 36MB.
I ran apt-cache gencaches as root but nothing changed, the comletion
is still missing for apt-get.

Another reason why should the X11 messing thrown out:
Someone might have set his X11 to blank, say, in 20 seconds (ie on open
cellphone, not sure if GTA04 runs ubuntu, but it definitely could).
do-release-upgrade would then turn the screen off and on repeatedly.
Which is even worse with OLED

The reason why I ask is because I don't even see a 1.0 EC2 API doc
anywhere. It's not listed here:
http://aws.amazon.com/archives/Amazon-EC2
and the latest version isn't 1.0. All of the versions fit -mm-dd
format so 1.0 seems like it's a mistake not supposed to be in the list.
