This was a bug in the nvidia driver:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/751552/any-opengl-window-shown-on-all-workspaces-occludes-other-applications/
It should be fixed in 340.24.

Hi,
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I've started an Ubuntu Hour in
Stockport, Cheshire. It will take place every other Saturday starting 23rd
October 2010 at 3pm-4pm at Fresco (The cafe in the middle of Merseyway
Shopping Centre).
I've put this on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hour as well.
I saw dragon ns being demonstrated at the Gadget Show Live and it worked
perfectly for the 2 pages of text I saw him dictate and his voice was
neither particularly high nor low. It's the best speech recognition I've
ever seen and it's a shame that it doesn't even work too well under wine.
1 is by far my favorite, then 6 and then 4.
I agree with the idea last night of a focus group though. It should mean
that potentail suggestions and design ideas will be a lot more organised.

I agree with all of that.
What would be a good way to organise all of our content and design ideas
before the next mock up?

P.S Great work so far though to everyone!

If you mean update the phone then you will get notifications on the phone
for app and android updates and it will update them using 3G/wifi if you let
it update, therefore no you won't need windows to update the phone.

I'm not sure if I should be starting a new thread on this but I was thinking
the other day whether or not a shop would let you run a liveCD to see if it
worked with ubuntu.

If we are desperate to get it into release weekend then the Monday is a
possibility as it is May day.

Sounds like a right shambles. I contacted my local MP who I see on the

MP's if they don't listen to the constituents.
I also contacted my MP who said he and every other

For those of you who still haven't gone, the show was great!
There were 2 stalls with linux that I saw.
One was from the Open University showing that you can run Ubuntu on a 5
year old PC with the same speed as modern windows.
The other was just a

You can control the mouse with the menu arrows as long as your phone has
that function. I'm not sure about Nokias but I know that Sony Ericssons can.

It might be good idea to include at least the majority of subjects covered

I'm guessing it's down to WEEE, under which many companies are scared
of their kit being found irresponsibly disposed of and being traced
back to them.
This is why I can't get any from college. There are numerous health and
safety reasons why they can't give them away as well though. I will
Still with all the new rules on electronics disposal, and the positive
press, maybe some of us may be able to get donations of old PCs from
businesses as they upgrade. Just a thought.
If needed, we have a load of old computers at college that are not being
transferred to our new building
I was there last year and am going again this year. As far as I could
tell there were no Linux-themed stalls last year, anyone know if there
will be this year?
I was also there last year and saw no linux stalls but it's twice as big
this year. There are a list of stall for this year here:
I take it that you are going this year - just out of query, what day shall
you be descending on the NEC?
I am going this year, on the 9th. We need a list of people so we know how
is going when and to keep this organised somehow.
For now the list is just:
Thursday 8th: Joe
Friday 9th: Ashley
Ahh I wish I'd heard about this earlier, it would have been the sort of
thing I would have loved to have gone to. Oh well, maybe next year.
There are still tickets but not super theatre tickets. Only the 8th and 9th
are available still.
I agree. It was also put as an action in IRC. I say next meeting in
#ubuntu-uk-meeting unless anyone objects. Someone needs to update wiki as
well please.
