Public bug reported: This Seems to be related to the XGL configuration, it first appeared to me as
> Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":1.0". when running things like glxgears.. now i ran into a post on the ubuntu forums that gave the recomendation of running "DISPLAY=:0 glxgears" and this works like a charm. i had this problem even with a fresh install, before i installed the ATI Drivers. OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
