In my case, there are (generally) no crashes, just freezes and terribly
slow scrolling, but there may be some common cause for sure, at least to

With both Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10, with different computers (e.g. Xeon
64GB RAM 1TB SSD). I have problems with the UI freezing in Writer,

To put a quantitative example. Imagine we open a folder with 7000 dcm files in
a modern laptop:
-Nautilus takes 43 seconds
-GNOME Commander takes 1 second (!)
I tried Ubuntu 13.04 and it also takes a lot so, not fixed

Show thumbnails option in nautilus preferences, the time goes down to
3 seconds.

This is ~15 times faster than Nautilus... and it makes a huge difference

After a new installation, the problem is less intense. Under certain
unknown circumstances I have to do a few tries until it connects, but
usually ends up connecting. The major problem now is instability.
Network-manager gets disconnected a lot.

The problem persists after a clean installation of Lucid 64-bit. It is
extremely annoying and disrupting. It seems related to high network
loads but it is difficult to say for sure. Things like using
Transmission are completely impossible right now.

After a new Lucid installation backlight control does not work. Not
after installing the nvidia_bl_dkms package and adding the line
nvidia_bl shift=2 to /etc/modules...
The funny thing was that I previously did an upgrade from Karmic and
backlight control was working fine (better than in karmic).
Upgrading to Lucid solves the problem...

I have the same problem here with a Macbook pro 5,3.
Connecting to a WPA, WPA2 network it's painful. Sometimes, under certain
particular circumstances it connects right away. Most of the time, it
just doesn't.
