so to ease the pain, go to System-Preferences-Keyboard shortcuts, and
add a custom entry that executes this command for each user.

No, that's because Ubuntu uses telepathy-gabble 0.8.x which doesn't
implement the ContactCapabilites interface. If you use telepathy-gabble
0.9.x the file transfer menu item won't be sensitive for contacts not
supporting file transfer, including the Facebook ones.

That's my mom's computer and she keeps it up to date ; I tried again recently,
certainly with the most recent version as of december 2009,
and it worked fine, with another key that was 4GiB big and using the 9.10 iso.
So we can assume the problem is solved. Sorry I forgot about this bug,

removes all the hardcoded proxies. See

1- Connect an USB audio device (for instance, an USB headset)
2- Open gnome-volume-control
3- Change volumes for microphone input speaker
4- Disconnect device
5- Reconnect device

The bug is still present. So I decided to make a patch that works but do not
fix the actual source of the problem.
But the software will not crash.

It would be good if karmic-updates could contain telepathy-gabble 0.8.9. This
release in the stable 0.8.9 branch contains a lot of fixes.
One of them is to use our new proxies.telepathy.im server to get a list of
public servers instead
