I'm not able to understand the situation properly. When the cursor is
stuck, you can log the xev events showing the stuck behavior.

ya, Tomas I think the behavior is very intentional as a patch is
available which can easily change the behavior and not merged till now.
Still I'm curious to know, what is the behavior in windows and other OS.

Also try to upload just one log, in VT. Run evtest and then try to reproduce

You should not any tweaking for enabling multitouch or rather multitouch
emulation for synaptics touchpad that does not support multitouch natively.
Just do some tweaking with the original synaptics driver(emulation already
present) in linux and get the emulation of it working.

Sorry for the delay in handeling the bug. Actually we are always short
for volunteers here. I have seen that the bug report has not been
prperly triaged at all.
As soon as you will install maverick, (try fresh install) using live
USB, please report back and then we can start the triaging
The default setting is certainly not in my hands, thats the upstreams
job and certainly ubuntu won't like to shift from upstream's decision as
well. Whatever they have in their mind they have good reasons to do
that.
So, in essence, I think this wasn't a bug. In that I'm closing the bug
report.
You mean that there is a delay and so some events gets lost(that are in
300 to 400ms time interval) after you stop scrolling and start again...
right!!
Strange bug!!
I hope that you laptop is not pretty old before starting out. That because of
low configuration it is not able to pic up fast
