Have uploaded the requested information, please let me know if I can contribute

Would expect the proprietary drivers to give better performance than the open
source drivers, so not sure why Unity won't work with them... Ubuntu even
suggests installing the

Hi, after installing Natty, I found myself with the wrong keyboard
layout. So, I installed the correct layout, and now had 2 layouts. Since
it seems almost random which of the 2 is chosen on boot, I want to
remove the incorrect one. So I go to System Settings-Keyboard
I have a HP Pavilion DV6, and I have the same problem occasionally. I
think it happens maybe 1 in 30 boots, and sometimes the machine will
freeze so nothing can be done - sometimes I am able to press Alt-F2 and
see the error from the screenshot.

I think I'm experiencing this same problem, but with the ati (open source)
driver. When it freezes, I am sometimes able to do Alt-F2 to get to the console
and kill compiz (and then continue operation), but most of the time it's a
complete freeze - requiring a reboot.

I have a Asus N61J laptop, and am using the AR9285 driver. The laptop
has dual-boot, and in Windows the wireless is stable, no downtime
experienced so far. In Ubuntu, it will stay connected anywhere from a

Wow, this is embarrassing...
I downloaded and tested 10.04 beta2, and had the same problem. Just as I was
about to report back, I noticed a key on the keyboard called F Lock. It turns
out that it is used to toggle the function keys... Once I pressed F Lock, the
function keys started working :)

My Dell Latitude D620 was running Jaunty fine. Today, I ran Update
Manager to upgrade to Karmic. The upgrade went fine, until it was all
done and requested a reboot. After the reboot, the screen went to text
mode and kept flickering. The text that's flickering is something
Quick update - I resorted back to Jaunty, and that installed without
problems. So it's definitely a new bug that has been introduced in 9.10.
Since I now have running Jaunty on this machine, I won't be able to do
any more testing on 9.10 installation...

OK, so I tested a bit more. Let me first correct what I wrote earlier.
The installer goes through all of its 7 steps. After the 7th step, when
I click Forward to start installation, a new window quickly pops up
before it disappears. And then there is no more sign of the installer.

Pascal, I think you SHOULD include AZ's patch. It doesn't seem to hurt
to add that option, and those not comfortable with it can just leave it
unused...

I just downloaded the Live CD of alpha 5 and tested it. At first, I got
the same problem as Jaime Pereira - it wouldn't boot. But I rebooted and
tried again, and this time I got the login window.
Network Manager came up with a long list of wireless networks, one of
them being my own. I selected
I just upgraded all modules (so now running 2.6.24-18), and wireless
still doesn't work on my Dell D620. The panel applet (Network Manager)
shows my wireless as connected, but with no IP address and there are no
other wireless points shown. Is there any work going on to make Ubuntu
