I prefer using Synaptic too. Gdebi is useful for installing a software
from a local package (downloading the relative dependencies), but not
from the repositories. It's only an installer, which doesn't consider
other purposes than - indeed - installing packages; Synaptic has
different functions.

find it in the repositories, and using it from the right click menu
(«Open with other application»). I find it lighter and more clearly ,

No, Compiz crashes: the window lose decorations, Unity sidebar

I had no time to make the test yet, but I am now able to circustantiate
the issue: crash and freezes only occur when LibreOffice is started
opening a precedently created document! Starting from a new document -
or from the LibreOffice loader - and then opening the existent file, all
works
...well, all work better. Some crash occurs, but no freezes...
