Just had the problem when I came home from work. Black screen on resume,
can not switch VT, no magic sysrq, only the power button works. This
time it was without any compiz stuff, just plain metacity. I'd say I
get some 80% success rate. I don't have time now, but will try to get

Ok, I tried the acpi debug procedure. The driver that was the 'likely
culprit' was serio0 in my case. I looked in the lsmod output and found a
driver serio_raw, which I added to the MODULES in acpi-support. This
seems to have fixed it, I have tried to suspend/resume more than 10

a crashed disk. I plugged it in, to try to salvage it (fsck, etc...),
but the kernel just oopses (see below). I understand you can't fix the

When using compiz, going full-screen results in funky effects. The gnome
panel stays visible (I only have a top panel), but the rest of the
screen is used by vmware. This is not very useful, as
I'm seeing it as we speak (feisty current as of 2007-04-06). It's on and
off. Sometimes it's transparent, sometimes it isn't. Not a really big
deal for me, but it's a glitch.

latitude d820). Now resume sometimes fails with black screen, or the

I frequently use the belgian site www.verkeerscentrum.be. I can no
longer access it from within feisty. I have tried firefox, epiphany,
wget, all without success. With another machine that is still running
edgy has no problems
Rebooting the machine in edgy (which is still installed on another
partition) shows that it is not a hardware or network problem. I can
perfectly connect in edgy. In feisty I can not.

I retested with pam-keyring enabled. I get the same error (screenshot
attached shows the prompt for the WPA key, the gnome-keyring-manager
with locked 'default' keyring and the error dialog when trying to access
that keyring).

starting administrative applications as synaptic from the menu no longer
works with today's update. It prompts me for my password, but I have
sudo config with NOPASSWD for my user. It then tells me that my password
is wrong (which it isn't). I can still do sudo or gksudo from
comfirming as a libgksu problem. I tried various combinations of
versions of gksu and libgksu. Downgrading libgksu to 1.9.8 fixes the
problem (with latest gksu). Higher versions don't work.

(left/right) to jump over words. This is not possible in feisty's gnome-
terminal. Instead it prints a control character as in the following

This was a problem in dapper for me, in edgy it is working fine.
Sometimes I need to rmmod/modprobe again the ipw3945 driver, in that
case the old trick to disable/enable networking from the nm-applet does
not work. I have now set that driver to the MODULES list in /etc/default
/acpi-support, and
whatever it was, fixed now in edgy.

I have the same with up-to-date edgy, and no special effects turned on
(no AIGLX, XGL, compiz, just plain GNOME with metacity). The effect is
that your theme is gone, and you are stuck with the old hard-edged theme
and colours.

I get through grub, and normal bootup, until the getty's are spawned, I
see the console logon prompt, and directly after that the SCSI probe
results, then the system locks up hard. No sysrq, no ctrl-alt-del,

Happens every time. Touchpad and trackpoint work, but the side scrolling
feature is not working. What can we try?

I started gnumeric without specifying a file, and enter some data. If I
choose save as, there is only .csv, .gnumeric and text export available.
Normally there should be all kinds of other formats...

You didn't have the problem of this bug in the first place, just like Simon
Hepburn. You both just had a misconfigured system. The rest of us have
correctly configured systems, but we are having trouble with getting the
network back online after resume. We need to take manual action,
got it again a few times, even with latest (-25) kernel.
