Using an external monitor I am editing a Snakefile with vim and syntax
highlighting. Under
I experience the infinite loop on boot about half the time. The OP
speaks of "misconfiguration because of user error", yet I'm not the type
to twittle with the system when it's not broken, so I'm not sure how

On the computer with the hotspot, if I make the network open, with no
WPA, then I can connect and use the hotspot with all machines.
If I enable WEP in the hotspot settting (nm-connection-editor), all
machines can still connect and use the hotspot.
If I enbale WPA in the hotspot settings
Another related bug is that the "Turn On WiFi Hotspots..." menu item is
always gray. The only way I can create or modify a hotspot is using the
nm-connection-editor. Is this a bug I should report elsewhere?

I did reboot before trying. Nothing changed with gnome-control-center.
I used "usermod" to change the uid.
Then I used "find / -user 501 -exec chown -h kms {} \;" to change any other
files in the filesystem.

I've changed my UID to 1001 but continue to have the same problem with
the settings.

3. See that there are no users (see attached screenshot). The message says "No
Ussers Found", "Unlock to add a user account."

Hello, could someone please help me debug this problem?
This ubuntu 20.04 box is the only viable wifi router in my house!
I'm considering downgrading my system, but would prefer to find the bug.

I have a machine with a wired network connection and a wifi card. I've
been using the machine as a wireless router and server in my house. I've
attached a screenshot of the Wi-Fi network settings. It looks as
expected.
Upon updating to 20.04, none of my machines can use the

For one of my user accounts, the Dock shows up blank (see 1 in the attached
image). The Dock then seems to be laggy.
These are the strange things that I see when taking 3 screenshots
(labeled in the attached .png):

I would like to comment that this bug manifests itself in many different
ways, depending on the program that happens to be in focus on the
desktop. Many people probably use the mouse to change desktops (yikes!),
but this problem may pop up in strange ways if it's not dealt with.

When changing desktops with the command, for example,
this problem manifests itself by sending an extra to whichever window is
in the foreground. If a terminal is in the foreground, the characters
"^[[1;7A" will be written.

Since updating to Ubuntu 19.10 I have started to notice characters getting
sporadically written to the open terminal when I move to a new workspace. This
is limited to terminals. Strange things happen in applications that happen to
