I got this issue too. but I am install the UEC from CD.
I didn't change anything. everything is automatic install.

1. upgrade my bios to the newest version.

I got this issue in lucid too.
it is very strange. because after I got my thinkpad x200 with intel 5300 two
months, today, I got this issue. I have to restart my laptop every time.

update: I found there is process keep running and keep change something,
it is cpufrequed. so, I tried to remove this package, I found the
wireless card work for me again. so, not sure whether the cpufrequed
effected this bug.
if you guys have installed this application too, so, please tried to
this fixed is not work for me.
I got the mountall : plymount command failed still
and htere is no splash show.
the plymouth version is : 0,8.2-2
