I have not added any extra lines to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. I
had to un-mute the sound though. Also you should make sure to add the
dkms package before installing David's .deb package.

acer_wmi in Jaunty on Aspire One exposes non-functional
The line
xinit -e 'sh -c xrandr --verbose xrandr.log '
does not write a xrandr.log file. I have attached the
/var/log/Xorg.0.log file. The test was done with the 20090321 daily live
cd with boot parameters live-nosplash text (live-nosplash due to bug
#21).

There is an improvement with the 20090321 daily-live cdrom. It boots
into a lowres black X screen with the message:
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode.
Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings
could not be detected correctly. You will need to
configure these yourself.

Another observation: After installation from a desktop CD booted with
live-nosplash the the installed system boots without problems. It seems
the problem with the splash screen is only on the desktop CD.

I don't know if it is related. The alternate CD stops at the
partitioning step because it cannot find the driver for the IDE
harddisk. It finds the IDE cdrom drive though.

The 20090215 daily live CD for PowerPc dumps me into a busybox shell
early in the boot process. Typing exit at the shell prompt just gives
me a new prompt. The computer is a G3 slot-loading iMac.
