Try downloading any windows .exe installer, for example, official 7-zip:

I have just discovered my system is affected by bug #393012. It makes every
file copied via SMB only 99% complete. So my archives were all corrupted. I
copied 7-zip SFX via pendrive and it works - I can open and extract it.
This bug is indeed invalid.

Gimp freezes and makes whole system lagging when opening large file
It doesn't freeze system completely, but for 1sec and again 1sec and again
1sec If I move my mouse i see 1fps slide-show. All I wanted to do was
resize the image, and I had to use another tool. The point is when I open it I
cant stop the process of that freezes and have to force shut down
The same bug appears when I open mounted by gvfs FTP location, open
file, close program (but not tab!). So with next loading program will
try to load previous document. If ftp's not mounted, it will freez on
boot screen (loading session) and will be unusable unless i mount exact
the same document.

Line spacing set to 1,5 is partially lost after saving as RTF
I experienced exact the same bug on Lenovo N200, with all versions of ubuntu,
opensuse, fedora, and few others.
Only distro that doesn't have that bug is Sabayon (4.2)! I'm uploading
alsa-info.sh generated on it, hope that will help. I have Sabayon currently
installed so I can run more
Upgrading to 9.10 fixes the problem.
