yes. This actually has to do with awn's behavior when I have loose

get the same performance with it off.

I think I know what is causing it. Whenever I switch desktops using
ctrl+alt+(left || right), it begins to lag, and xorg uses 100% CPU, even
if I unfold the cube using ctrl+alt+down. Otherwise I get a perfectly
normal framerate.

Ok, I feel really dumb now. Supposedly this is being caused by avant
window navigator, which ubuntu does not support, so this ticket is
invalid.

I will see if I can narrow it down to a specific plugin when I get home.
When I was using feisty and Treviño’s eyecandy repository, I did not
have this issue. If I remember correctly it grabs the latest version
from GIT and builds a package. I upgraded about two days before the
release.

Ok, I did some testing. It seems this is a compiz bug. After using
metacity and playing 3D games such as ET:Quake Wars and Nexuiz for a few
hours, I have a strong feeling this has to do with compiz. Yes, I am
using loose bindings because I have an nvidia card.

I am using ubuntu gutsy gibbon.
During normal usage of my computer (with compiz turned on), I am
experiencing strange spikes in CPU usage in various lengths at various
intervals. xorg is what is causing these spikes. Usually it's either at
50% or 100% cpu usage. As a result
We need to step this bug's priority up big time. With gutsy a few days
away from release we'll have many people upgrading from feisty to gutsy,
and they will experience this problem as well.
I had this problem after upgrading from feisty to gutsy yesterday. I
have my box set to automatically log
Oddly enough I just had a package update for GDM today, the issue seemed
to correct itself. I'm going to wipe my system and start from scratch
though.

I did some more experimentation. Apparently, it is the monitor that is
causing the problem,. My 2nd screen works perfectly, but I get the same
problem with the laptop's internal monitor.
** Attachment added: current xorg.conf (with nvidia-glx driver)
I just remembered: adding NVreg_SoftEDIDs=0 to /etc/modprobe.d/options
caused X11 to not recognize my internal monitor correctly, so I removed
it. Still no dice. Maybe I would need to manually specify my monitor?

[nvidia-glx feisty] GeForce2 Go Card displays 'half screen' error
This may be a little late, but I have the same exact model laptop, and I
get the same exact bug. I have tried everything from fixing the screen
refresh rate to reconfiguring xserver. Nothing worked. I'm just
confirming the bug. I will post up what I get when I follow the
instructions here.
