I have the same problem when trying to use the ubuntu-18.04-server (not live) image using the installer on VMware ESXi 6.5 - using BIOS or EFI, different vga= commandline settings don't make a difference. after around 1 minute of uptime i get a kernel dump with check_for_bios_corruption ... is
