Hi, I am constantly fiddling with this problem, too. My Dell Inspiron
8200 running the Koala 9.10 never resumes neither from suspend nor
from hibernation, always resulting in a frozen black screen, in the end.

As Bug #512634 is marked as duplicate of this one I add this comment here: I
faced the problem of regularly crashing installation attempts, too. After some
web search I found a comment that this problem was related with the chosen file

Same here: Ubuntu 9.04 installed with Wubi and then upgraded to 9.10.
After upgrading I was neither able to reboot nor shutting down the
system.
I applied the solution posted on #19 and now I can reboot and shut down safely.

Could you post dmesg output from booting up the working version?
It would be particularly helpful if you could boot, then try to tune the
receiver with dvbscan or equivalently try to watch live tv in

I have the same issue on Karmic Beta 64bit on a Macbook Pro 5.3.
It works on the live CD but won't get enabled once installed.

On Karmic Beta, /proc/cpuinfo reports one core for my core 2 duo laptop
(Macbook Pro 5.3).
It also reports the wrong frequency (1596Mhz instead of 2.6Ghz), but that was
already reported in another bug report.
It probably also uses one single core.

There is no sound on my macbook pro 5.3 (either internal speakers nor
headphone jack).
I'm using karmic 64bit.
I have checked sound levels in alsa and in the gnome sound configuration
and they are to the maximum.

I upgrade to karmic from jaunty and since i can't restore my xorg by the
command :
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
if i use this command nothing change in my xorg.conf
Besides, the xfix option has disappeared from the recovery-mode
