Public bug reported:
The bug occurs regularly, without any special action. I'm just working
in gnome-terminal und using Firefox.
Symptoms:
* While working, the system suddenly freezes for a few seconds (like a typical
crash in the X system)
* Then I can continue work, but with corrupted fonts
What do you expect, it's only been four years since reporting the bug.

Can confirm this. TwinView is not an option here because the second

ugly tearing. And XMBC is not working in TwinView.

@Jamie: This is wrong. Prompting for user name and password is the only
possible way for local security, assuming that * the chassis is
protected, * the BIOS is set up correctly and protected by a BIOS
password, * GRUB is protected by a GRUB password. In this case:
* you can get direct root
Also, I wonder why the root password is asked for when it is set? By
your argumentation, it provides no additional security.

Binary package hint: friendly-recovery
Current status:
* Rescue mode doesn't ask for a password in default install

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xchat-gnome
Some servers, including
* the default xchat-gnome server irc.ubuntu.com (on port 7000)
* FreeNode irc.freenode.net (port 7000, too)
support SSL. I suggest activating SSL support for these networks by default to
increase privacy and security.
