Workaround until this gets fixed:
# stop nvidia-persistenced
$ sudo service nvidia-persistenced stop
# completely uninstall failed package and dependencies
$ apt-get remove nvidia-updates-331 nvidia-updates-331-dev
nvidia-updates-331-uvm
# reinstall all three packages
$ apt-get install
Repaired the missing system cofiguration by suggestion from internet; sudo
apt-get install gnome-control-center. from Ubuntu software centre installed
Energy (Gnome2/Gnome classic ?) and Systems funtioned again.

Ah, forgot to mention. For those who know how to read the change that
Ben proposes and would like to fix it locally, you can do so by
correcting the file:
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtweak/tweaks/tweak_group_startup.py
It works great after that.

Bonjour Jacques,
Bonjour Guy,
Est-ce à la suite d'une mise à jour ? En d'autres mots, est-ce que tu
avais du son auparavant ?
Oui.
Mes modules lancés au démarrage :
[...]
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-babse.conf ?
Je regarde tout ça, merci.

** Attachment added: Example
attached in my post raw,
since it is a PDF file). BTW I can also confirm that a windows computer on
the same network prints out my attached file on this printer without any
problems. So the printer is working.
Any additionnal tests I might run ?

If I double click on it, Document Viewer is launched and it has print in
the file menu. I use print and get a copy on the printer.

Depuis que j'ai abandonné la 8.04 LTS, je n'arrive pas à aller au delà
