I can confirm that this chipset worked at least on Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04. Not working since 10.10 for ordinary SD cards of any kind and producer. Read in a forum it is a timing problem of a read rate at an internal port or register. Won't be fixed for 10.10. Still a shame to break running
