This time, what Ben did in #75 -- downgrading grub to
2.02+dfsg1-12ubuntu2.1 -- was the only thing that fixed it for me. I

I was attempting to install the april 2 amd64 daily to participate in
the beta final test event . the first try there was a permissionns
problem with /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat . I made that file read-
write for all and ran the installer again and when it hung I waited 20
minutes , quit
update I have 6 drives many partitions and installs , I disconnected the
drive with the win 8 install and the installation of the daily completed
with no problem .

I am having the same or a similar problem with the march 15 daily live
of Ubuntu-gnome . The installer hangs as soon as I hit continue on the
second screen ( where you are asked if you want to download supdaes etc)

update by adding acpi=off I can get it to start to boot but it fails
with dev/dev by disk/by uuid / ( uuid # here) does not exist and then
drops to busybox . the uuid # is correct and if I boot into 3.5.0-6 it
is there .

manual and installing to a preformatted partition . note ! the box has 3

please update gnome-terminal to 2.30.1
unfortunately the situation is even worse than portrayed here so far ,
the order of the drives as displayed by the installer is not the same as
the BIOS order or the order as presented in Gparted (which I use for all
formating and partitioning ) or even consistent from one release to the
next . I
confirmed , I have the same result . NOTE ! attempting to revert by
forcing the previous libgtk2.20.0-0ubuntu4(lucid) wants to remove MANY
packages . please fix soonest .
