I confirm that in gdm it works, even if GNOME is loaded and I select
Switch user. And what more, it looks like a gnome problem, because in
XFCE4 everything goes well! So we should probably close this bug as
INVALID and open it in gnome package.

Public bug reported:
I upgraded to Karmic alpha3 from Jaunty and after logging into gnome,
touchpad still works but doesn't support clicking by tapping. In XFCE4
on the same system it works OK. System - About GNOME tells me:
version of gnome: 2.27.4
compilation date: 15.7.2009

You
I have a workaround :)
1. run gconf-editor
2. on the left open desktop - gnome - peripherals - touchpad
3. on the right, mark the box tap_to_click
4. enjoy the tapping
But why this in unchecked by default???
In System - Options - Mouse on the tab Touchpad I have enabled click
by tap

I downgraded to 0.99.3-2ubuntu4 from jaunty and it did not help, so the
problem will be probably somewhere else. Any idea?

I am sorry for the previous comment, it was probably because I didn't
have ServerAliveInterval 15 in my .ssh/config (or use -o
ServerAliveInterval=15 on the sshfs command line) This will force the
ssh connection to stay alive even if you have no activity. This is
written in the sshfs FAQ (zcat
This fix works for me:
add this code to ~/.asoundrc
pcm.skypeout
{
type plug
slave.pcm dmix
}
ctl.skypeout
{
type hw
card 0
}
pcm.skypein
{
type plug
slave.pcm dsnoop
}
ctl.skypein
{
type hw
card 0
}
and this to /etc/pulse/default.pa
