There is a lot of confusion about turbo boost. /proc/cpuinfo will not report
correct freq (only reports non turbo frequencies)
Up to recently I thought my turbo boost was not working on my i7 laptop as
cpufreq reported max 1.6ghz. With the following util I found out that my

I can confirm this. Just did a install of 9.04 RC and with version 173
(the recommended one) of the nvidia drivers i get a max of 640x480
resolution. Version 96 gives me the max resolution possible but i
experience screen flashes and no compiz possible. 2D drivers only work
like a charm. Also i
i did not even know about /var/crash... crash report attached.

your firefox user stuff (bookmarks etc) is in ~/.mozilla/. Back up
that directory. A removal of FF should not remove your user config, back
up is to be on the save side.

Could you run pidgin with the --debug option? Better even, start
pidgin like this:
pidgin --debug debug
This will write all debug messages from pidgin to the file debug in the
directory where you executed pidgin.
After your box crashes post relevant part of debug here.

Ok, I cant really help much anymore as I have purged everything with
samba or smb in the name and reinstalled samba and everything works now.
I guess there was a dodgy conf file somewhere and purging instead of
just removing samba stuff seemed to have cured my libpam-smbpass issues.

I can duplicate this on my system with two usb hubs. If both of them are
plugged in usb-creator exits and i get this in the log:

1.9.0.3+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 and still need windowlessmode=1 to get
flash to work on 64 bit. Without it i just get the famous gray box. With
it i get beautiful Flash 10.

Grub gets installed like this by ubuntu installer:

setup (hd0)
this does not work on my IBM Intellistation 6850 (and others as i have
discovered with googleing this issue)
if i set up grub manually like this:

Just to add, this affects Gutsy and Hardy and there is no error message
just grub being written over and over again in an endless loop on the
screeen. Other users have reported Error messages without a number,
just: Grub Hard disk error.
