Stuck on 640x480 during install.
Looked in xorg.conf and it had correctly detected my card as a geforce4
mmx.
I restarted x and my new resolution was 1280x1024.
So I went from the lowest possible resolution to the highest possible
just by restarting x.

Adjusting the minutes field (which is what I've been primarily testing) with
the up or down arrow controls seems effective: just not typing it in.
Some combinations of activating the arrow controls and then adjusting via
typing seem to be effective.

I changed kernel back to 2.6.15-23-386 and now sound works again. I just
renamed appropriate rows in /boot/grub/menu.lst to load older kernel.
Even touchpad mouse works again.
It seems like it's kernel bug but I'm not sure.
But it's workaround, not solution.

Did you try with different resolution settings for the gutenprint driver?
According to www.linuxprinting.org the recommended driver for the HP LaserJet 4
is "hpijs", did you try this driver?

paperweight. The patching regime required to get it working seems

install CD the System ist booting until the boot command in grub is
executed.
