I've managed to shutdown Powernowd as per the instructions but can't use
ondemand. I don't have the
"/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor" directory on my
laptop, under cpu0 the only directory I have is cache. I've tried to
create the directories using sudo but get an Oper

I've found that if you take the latest edgy kernel (2.6.17.11) and
compile in the ide-generic module, the all-generic-ide kernel boot
parameter can be used and JMB363 PATA devices are detected. I played
with a number of kernels and kernel configs before I figured this out.

Thats why /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon does nothing. You probably have it

While testing my bootup speeds on my Edgy box, I made the following
discovery. My baseline bootup to a login screen is around 55 seconds.
First of all, Edgy's readahead list is pretty inaccurate, and profiling
gives me a drastically different (and longer) list. After a reprof

I had exactly the same issue:
This for me was easy to resolve I simply had to run
sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx
whilst logged into the new kernel:
However I cannot boot from any of the previous kernels as they bomb out

returned I saw that kwalletmanager had no wallets open. I cannot create

I have a friend who this happens to. The only difference between our
setups was that he had the later cd "XP with service pack 2", and I had
the plain old "windows XP" cd. He also used SATA drives mixed with IDE
whereas I have just have IDE.

Metacity pulls non-focused windows out of fullscreen mode (unless the
focus is on a *transient* (e.g. dialog) of the fullscreen application).
This allows users to still recover if a fullscreen app hangs or if the
user simply wants to do something else for a minute. So, this is
expected behavior.

You can restart it manually. It has taken me as many as five attempts
to get it to run and stay running. Other than that, the best solution
is a complete restart.

I get this too with CVS build of RB on Edgy, and the same version works fine on
Dapper. Looks like something is causing a deadlock..
