Thanks for your report, which is also bug 47194. The program used for
advanced partitioning, qtparted, appears to have crashed. The version of
the installer present in Kubuntu 6.06.1 deals with this more gracefully.
If you can reproduce the qtparted
I can confirm this (I am also using latest Edgy, with en_CA locale). I
fixed it simply by changing use_markup to True for the three labels in
/usr/share/gnome-power-manager/gpm-prefs.glade... although I'm not sure
why this would only happen in the en_CA locale.

3. plug the AC cable
4. resume it
5. look ... nm-applet show 2 devices desabled (ethernet and wifi). I can't

What happens to this bug? Today a package gzip (1.3.5-12ubuntu0.1) is
available for dapper. Synaptic shows a ChangeLog after loading it from
the menu but update-manager does not show any message.
My system is up-to-date (this gzip package is currently the only update

Deskbar plugins can have a More... button in the plugins list. The
beagle-live plugin already detects if beagled is running, and allows the
user to start it via a dialog popping up when More... is clicked.
It would be easy to patch deskbar-applet to have beagle-live popup a

I am on Dapper, and have tried changing the first of my device sections
to include the changes suggested by Bin Trihn - but since I have
experienced two system freezes.
So in my case the suggestion did not solve the case.

This all seems to come from the kernel soft lockup triggered by usplash on

Some annoying thing, when this bug occurs, somehow gconf settings are lost...
disabling usplash then helps the box stopping / rebooting and gconf settings to

This doesn't look like a bug in apt. It looks more like apt-setup is creating
a bogus proxy entry, as it was noticed upstream. There it was also reassigned
to apt-setup.
I can confirm that I was also bitten by this bug during installing Dapper
6.06.1 Server
(netboot and CD installation)

Forcing focus on the dialog is not a good idea since other gnome
programs specifically try to avoid focus stealing (which is very
annoying at times). So I implemented b), making the window appear in the
task bar.
