I followed the standard procedure to upgrade (gksudo update-manager -c -d)
from dapper to edgy. In dapper the 686 kernel was used. In edgy, by default a
kernel was selected (i386) which didn't support all of the features of my

17 2006. Using the graphical installer I selected the clean install

Same problems with guarddog and shorewall, edgy, two machines. My
workaround with shorewall was to edit /usr/share/shorewall/action.Drop
and /usr/share/shorewall/action.Reject and comment the line with
AllowICMPs - - icmp. Of course the solution is to re-
enable icmp-type in

bzr-svn has failed to build on i386 due to some obscure dpkg bug which
is not reproduceable here. It propably needs a simple rebuild to get
into the archive.
Would be really nice to have this in edgy, as there is no binary of this
package built yet, but it's quite useful.

I had several tabs open in Firefox and I think I moved to another
application. Then I noticed that Firefox was not open anymore. I am
using FF 1.5.0.7. Also Synaptic suddently quitted once when it was still
loading something. Do I have contaminated system?
The OS is
Adding -fno-stack-protector to CFLAGS fixes the problem.
