The Aegis icon is visible using Alacarte menu editor (see attachment).

So, when I disabled acpid, the system booted just fine, but I would get

I switched use_time_for_policy off and have just been able to survive
the emptying of my second battery and the system is now running on the
second battery.
so the work around appears to work.

While uprading my edgy system with update-manager, it stop on installing
6.10.3. (for about 5 minutes, until I klled process)
Looking the ps I found:

looking at the connection progress dialog. Is it longer with the betas,
or are you primarily reacting to the lack of visual feedback?
The start time should also improve _at least_ some in beta4, but as I do

There's still a bug in i965_dri.so. Basically it needs to be compiled
with an older gcc to avoid miscompilation.
I read this off some mailing lists for people seeing
i915_dispatch_cmdbuffer failed in the kernel logs.

When i boot using the live cd of 6.10 Beta it *always* boots fine.
Upon using live cd of 6.10rc it almost always locks up (1 successful boot in
10). The initial screen starts OK, then scrambles before the final window shows
up. I have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 and i recall
