I have a Dell c610 that does the exact same thing. gnome-power-control
is set correctly. Did not happen in Dapper, but happens in Edgy.
I was thinking Hal or ACPI too. As Edgy has a beta version of Xorg,

protocol only allows for four keyboard groups, full stop. You can't
have more than four layouts without magically changing your keymap when
you switch to a layout n >= 4, which is incredibly difficult.

I just found out something really weird. It seems that I/g-s-t has reset
the list of groups I'm in. So while id said I was in plugdev, I really
wasn't.
Still that doesn't seem to be the issue. I've added myself to plugdev
again, but the error is still there.

This is not a bug. I had been struggling with Bug #59946, and it seems
that somewhere in the process I/g-s-t reset the list of groups I'm in.
Hence I wasn't in the audio group which made the soundcard inacessible.
I'm pretty sure the reset of my groups was not caused by the dist-

I've fixed with with the following file
It appears to work for me. I don't really know enough about PAM, krb5 or
AFS to know whether this is a fix for everyone everywhere.
In particular, this situation tends to renew the AFS frequently, which
may be an issue.

Actually the latest firefox source in edgy (firefox_2.0+0dfsg-
0ubuntu3.diff.gz) still has the bug, since the configure test (which is
taken from gecko trunk) still contains this bashism:

Sigh - now experiencing again. Somehow it's not completely random... I
can boot everytime for some time, then for a while it never works. Very
strange. How come this is not getting worked on? This should be a
showstopper for edgy.

When trying to disable (unmount) a partition in Disks Manager, if the
unmount fails, then nothing happens - no explanation, no error. Just a
screen redraw for the window.
For example, if some process is using the partition, then an unm
I just want to add that the missing files make the vim-spelling feature useless
for about 90% of mankind as most people do not use vim in english. This is not
about blaming you, it is just frustrating that most distros donn't treat
non-english users as first-class citizens. You wouldn't believe
