The problem effects azureus 2.5.0 in edgy too. I downloaded the source
to take a look. The problem is that many of the icons are corrupted.

1- after restart, when the computer stops booting, and there is nothing but a
black screen with blinking white dash, press and hold together CTRL + ALT + F1
(to get to the console).

I tried to upgrade my system tonight, following indications on Ubuntu's
Web site (gksu "update-manager -c").
During the install process an error box appearred twice "install aborted ()
filles failed" and over the box it said to enclude this "/var/
It looks like "Medical-Wei" has hit on one of the biggest problems, namely
the "variety" of Linux distros. There is too much unnessary friction among
the various groups, some for the valid reason that they are commercial, such
as "RED HAT". But Debian-Ubuntu-Mepis for example should work together,
Is also happening to me, similar to David Oxland, am on edgy too, did an
upgrade from dapper.

I ran acpi, and got this output:

Setting /etc/usplash.conf to 640x480 doesn't help (I just tried). The
monitor is able to display 800x600.

Sorry, but edgy is released - it's well past time for sync requests. If
there is a critical bug with this package, please file it & it may be
considered for edgy-updates. Otherwise, this package will get synced
automatically when feisty is opened.

I have exactly the same problem. My scanner works perfectly in Dapper,
but it is not detected in Edgy. Same problem under Debian testing...

Still same problem on edgy final i386 for me. Haven't tried the
workaround here, since i usually install fglrx asap.

Confirming since I see this bug here too on edgy (release). Editing the
first line of /usr/sbin/ipkungfu to use /bin/bash rather than /bin/sh
(or whatever that points to) seems to be a quick fix.

This happens because the system timer in the kernel is set to only
250HZ. I think it goes back and forth, because I wasn't seeing this
error for a while, and now I'm seeing it again in Edgy.

Just upgraded to 2.0 with Ubuntu 6.10
Was scrolling a web page with my down arrow. FF was choppy, then it just shut
down.
Gnome asked me to compile a bug report. So here I am.
Running Ubuntu 6.10 on an averatec 5500 laptop.
