I didn't notice that it uses readcd externally. It gives the same error
(I changed cd but not the name of the ISO, that's why number of sectors
differs). I even "prevu"-ed wodim, and tried readom, but it's the same,
both logs follow. "dd" seems to give no error but it is hanging at end,

This morning I had an update for both gdm and nvidia, so I thought I
would try it all again. So, I did sudo nvidia-xconfig, but no success. I
decided to reinstall nvidia-glx package again, but it still didn't work
- just the blank screen.

The lather seems to be the exact same issue, and according to bugzilla this
should be fixed in Feisty.
I haven't tested it, but I think it will be fixed
Rejected?? why. I think this is a kind of important issue. That if you
boot and leave the computer it will never go to sleep (drain battery on
laptops). Also if you logout then you have the same issue, the power
manager are no longer in work. Laptop as desktop.

At last, after several tries, I got the xubuntu installed.
I think that the problem appears when the partitions for /home, /var or
/usr/local aren't formatted again (I suppose that they contain some data that
probably cannot be overwritten).

alongside if its not there, if you wish to run your session without dbus
you are free to, but please understand that dbus is an integral part of
modern desktops, so apps might not work if they cant communicate through
