After upgrading vom pre-2.6.20 Kernel the Headphone mixer is removed.
Sound still works but only with internal speaker. The sound from the
speaker gets muted after plugging, but i can't hear anything from the
headphones.
Same in Herd 3.
I think that i could locate the issue.
In /etc/vmware/locations i have this line:
answer VNET_0_INTERFACE ath0
My ath0 is usually disconected. If i change this line to use eth0, i can

On the same hardware I have Ubuntu 6.06LTS ( fresh install) without the error
ACPI: Unable to turn cooling device and Ubuntu 6.10 ( dist-upgrade

I've did a network configuration and store it as 'home'. Someday I manually add
another dns plus the detected from the dhcp server.
Other time I delete that dns, so there was only 1 dns from dhcp server.
From time to time (less than 1 hour) the 'phantom' dns appears. so i have to
delete it

I did not have any problem at any point after upgrading to Edgy from
Dapper. It seems the icon disappearing problem is independent of any
such problems. I installed 915resolution while trying to solve the
problem, though that didn't help.

Using Feisty Desktop build 2007.02.11 i3876 - installation fails at step

redid the hibernation process. These are the steps:
1. Select System-Quit-Hibernate
2. Wait until machine powers off
3. Power on the machine
The behavior of the machine did not change. I was still getting

Hello. Thanks for reporting and attaching the log file. I see you're
using an older dapper (6.06) CD. Could you please try this with 6.10 or

I think that Wine Config is okay, but I don't know what to do with

Yeah, everything's working now.
I don't think the fdi patch was needed (to fix this particular problem
on my particular machine). I actually removed all device sections
relating to thinkpads or IBM or Lenovo, rebooted, and everything is
working peachily. Looking at
same here.
x-chat crashes and then i couldnt open new windows or programms and i couldnt
log out or reboot.

This particular error is often due to a faulty hard disk. It may help to
check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to
move the system to a cooler environment.
I'm closing this one now since we cannot pursue it further without log
files. If you experience the problem again
