Failure to detect the SATA drive sounds like a kernel problem. It would
be great it you could run the Live CD again and attach the output from
these commands:

I think I was unclear as well. On my system, I can select icons on the
desktop by hovering over them _before_ clicking on the desktop. But
some window still has focus at that point, and not the desktop, so with
the icon selected, F2 doesn't rename, but get's sent to whatever
application has focus

eth0 from System->Network->Connections, my /etc/network/interfaces was
modified accordingly (auto eth0 was removed). Then I re-enabled eth0 (auto eth0

On Feisty H4:
After automatic login I have only iPod icon (floppy2) on desktop and in
places menu.
After a dbus restart I have all disk icons (iPod look like a floppy).
After logout and login I have the iPod icon only again.

I have been upgrading an old server. For various reasons I have my
maildir configured to point at a folder called ".maildir" instead of the
default Maildir.
I restored my .maildir folders from my backup

manager' in regard to connection to isp/network which caught my
attention. I closed knetwork manager and kmail started polling the
correct network for e-mail.

1. start system with ethernet cable _disconnected_
2. connect ethernet cable
- system says no link detected - not true
To overcome this you have to
1) unload driver - rmmod r816
