I do not know where I saw this but I saw it: something about 'knetwork
manager' in regard to connection to isp/network which caught my
attention. I closed knetwork manager and kmail started polling the
correct network for e-mail.

Thanks for your suggestion, it didn't work though. When I unticked (disabled)
eth0 from System-Network-Connections, my /etc/network/interfaces was
modified accordingly (auto eth0 was removed). Then I re-enabled eth0 (auto eth0
was added back), but NetworkManager Applet still refuses to find

The gutenprint driver does work, but it assumes letter as paper size
which it shouldn´t on a german installation.

I can confirm this. My GECOS contains a german umlaut - just as Daniel
assumed. If i run scorched3d on the same system with the umlaut in my
GECOS it crashes. If i remove the umlaut it runs.

I also have a Latitude C840 with the Geforce4 400 Go. I was able to make
my display work properly by using the nvidia-glx-legacy packages.
I also had to add the following in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to make anything
GL run reasonably well.

Failure to detect the SATA drive sounds like a kernel problem. It would
be great it you could run the Live CD again and attach the output from
these commands:
* uname -a uname-a.log
* dmesg dmesg.log
* lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log

I think I was unclear as well. On my system, I can select icons on the
desktop by hovering over them _before_ clicking on the desktop. But
some window still has focus at that point, and not the desktop, so with
the icon selected, F2 doesn't rename, but get's sent to whatever
application has

We seem to have conflicting reports on this range of chipsets in that
prism2_pci, hostap_pci and orinoco_pci are all said to work better for
different ones.
Can everyone affected please attach (do not paste into comment) the
output of lspci -vv and lspci -vvn, make sure to name the file
something
I have the same problem, I blacklisted bcm43xx to prevent crashes until
we have a solution.
