I get the exact same error (cannot allocate resource region 7 & 8) on
both a 1.5 yr old Acer Aspire 5021WLMi and a brand new HP DV9297ea. I
do not think I have the latest BIOS update for the HP--there is an F.15

I tried to attach the crash report, but I can't get it to upload. As I said
before, I am not able to open this file so there may be something wrong with
it. I have not been able to reproduce the crash so would installing the
debugging symbols do any good at this point? Any suggestions?

Iptables gives firewall rules to the kernel, but it doesn't make the
rules. If you have firewall rules (that you didn't make by hand), you
have another firewall package creating them, and the bug needs to be
filed on that package.

I found that rebooting doesn't bring sound back --I had to shutdown, so
you may want to try that, ullix. (I have a T60, btw)
Also, the problem doesn't seem to happen when I suspend, so it may be
that bug 83509 is not a dupe after all.

I can confirm that Feisty's NetworkManager indeed misbehaves when there
is more than one network card present. I have two cards, one connected
to public internet, one is for my home network. Only one card works at
the time, I can even use NetworkManager to choose, which one.

Tormod, in the upstream bug you say that with "Xorg log from latest git
with modified patch 8746" you had it working for the first time.
However, the patch you attached here said that it was "upstream patch
7409 modified for edgy/feisty", and the name is
13_fdo_att7409_bug5473.diff - it's also now
I can confirm that is problem exists on current Feisty (as of 2007 03
17). I am using a Compaq Presario R3000z with a NVidia Geforce 440 Go
using the nvidia proprietary driver.
However I cannot predictable reproduce it using the method in the

Probably this bug should be closed with an appropriate comment e.g. "Fix
released in geany version ..."
I don't know which version fixed this bug, and so didn't do this myself.

Fix above works for me. Makes sense that the fix would be for udev
rather than libifp; although I guess it's possible for other packages to
provide /etc/udev/rules.d/* files. So libifp could just have a
standalone stanza in a new rules.d file with the permissions fix. Still
