The problem seem(ed) to be that '/target/initrd.img' is not writable. What is
"/target" anyway? Have you replaced e.g. "/dev/xxx" here?
What filesystem has "/target"? Maybe it could only get mounted readonly by the
installer.

hddtemp doesn't work here ("S.M.A.R.T. not available") with my sata-
disk, too.

For what I understand, powernowd is used if you need to implement a flexible
policy system (for instance using the performance governor unless when running
on batteries, when one could switch to the ondemand governor).
If such a flexible system is not needed, indeed powernowd is not needed and on

When i try to install ubuntu feisty herd 5, and i setup the raid
configuration, then show the "/dev/md/1 not pressent" error.
I have 3 raid volumes:
/dev/md0, raid 1
/dev/md1, raid 0
/dev/md2, raid 0
Ubuntu 6.10 alternate CD works perfectly, but herd 4 and 5 dont work for
me.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty Herd 5 alternate install. The
harddisk has both NTFS, FAT32 and EXT3 partition.
When I boot up to partitioner screen, the "manual" option is missing and
there is "0" instead. Four guided options are remained but not usable.

Using Edgy Ubuntu and the same thing happens to me. Audacity only started
crashing after I reconfigured Volume Control settings to get my mike working
because beforehand Audacity wouldn't record.

Please ignore all my past comments... this is a xmodmap issue. I erased
this line from my session startup programs:
xmodmap /usr/share/xmodmap/xmodmap.la
And I've got focus as normal. I hope this info could be useful. :-D
