I tried to get Beryl working, changed Gnome theme, switched back to a
Gnome session and I can't get focus. The same problem with Alt+Tab and
all that.

I have a workaround for this bug...
Play the movie clip without headphones plugged in, press the mute
button, then plug in the headphones. Press the mute button again to

I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty Herd 5 alternate install. The
harddisk has both NTFS, FAT32 and EXT3 partition.
When I boot up to partitioner screen, the manual option is missing and
there is 0 instead. Four guided options are remained but not usable.

activate the drivers via estricted-manager.

hddtemp doesn't work here (S.M.A.R.T. not available) with my sata-
disk, too.

But S.M.A.R.T actually is available, sudo smartctl -a -d ata /dev/sda

The problem seem(ed) to be that '/target/initrd.img' is not writable. What is
/target anyway? Have you replaced e.g. /dev/xxx here?
What filesystem has /target? Maybe it could only get mounted readonly by the
installer.
