I seemed to have the same problem. modprob'ing ehci_hcd solved it for
me. I know have it in /etc/modules and everything works fine as far as I
can tell.
I just did wonder because it worked perfectly (that is including auto
detection) in Edgy and suddenly stopped working with the first Feisty
Alright, I'm not 100% sure this isn't user error, but I can't spot
anything super-incriminating. Although, if you could attach your
/boot/grub/menu.lst, that might be an issue, and try reinstalling
modprobe.

The same things happens for me with my X800XL (R430), something seems to go
wrong with ati's R4XX-cards. The vga=xx solution works, but it's not perfect

Try to change your font settings to best contrast, works for me.
But this bug should really be resolved, you shouldn't need to change
some settings to have nice fonts.

Public bug reported:
When booting a System 76 Z62F laptop on 20070228.1, the power manager
accurately displays the state of the battery. When booting after
hibernation, the power manager is showing 0%.
Reproduction steps:
1. Select System-Quit-Hibernate
2. Wait until machine powers off
3. Power

That's exactly the procedure I follow, except A4 is a default here
(maybe because I chose French/France at install).
That might be the difference between our systems. The two computers I've
tested have the same locales

This issue is because the dothan CPU tables are not in upstream linux
kernel. There are patches available to fix it, but they are extremely
pervasive in the source tree. The project that supports them needs to
actively push these patches upstream.

I tried fglrx for a while, and didn't have any problem with logging out!?
I did however have the same old ATI problem that suspend (well, actually
resume) doesn't work .
