After i have grown my /boot partition to have the desired free space,
the upgrade went well for me :-)

I'm running into this same issue. I'm running restricted-manager 0.14 in
7.04 Feisty Fawn beta. I've tried replacing 0.14 with 0.12 and it did
not resolve the issue. Now I'm back to 0.14 and the issue is not
resolved.

It took about 5 or 6 hours to download all the packages. I wasn't there
when it finished though - came back the next morning and it was asking a
question. It failed shortly after that. Nobody was using any
applications on the machine but the usual background processes were
running.

What do you mean exactly with "It was turned off in the BIOS after the
update"? Does this mean, that an update of Ubuntu changes settings in
the BIOS?
When this is true it sounds serious to me. Ubuntu does not need to
change anything in the BIOS.

I confirm this too.
In fact, I just realized after reading this that it occured after the routine
fsck. But that seem consistant with what I saw.
I had this problem in Edgy, and now in Feisty.
