i'm having the same problem. i just need to start my pc, log in, and then close
the session. the screen will go blank, and ctrl-alt-del or anything like that
won't work. I have to restart the pc to be able to log in again.
But I'm using a Radeon XPress 1100 with the proprietary driver.

I have the same problem - I cannot disable kwallet. I can understand
that security is important, but this is a one-user computer behind a

My workaround was to use X-CD-Roast instead, but the drive recently
failed on me, cdrecord had quit working too. So i replaced the cheap
2001 HP 'R/RW 8x4x32' with a 2002 'CDWRITER IDE2410' and that solved the
pbm for me. But yes, with the old drive before its failure, X-CD-Roast

Sadly, this bug does not seem to have made it on time for the final
release of Feisty, which makes it a regression as compared to Edgy (and
Dapper). Too bad.
I have marked #89723 (where some similar information is posted) as a
duplicate as reported by Matt. Both bugs are now marked as "needs info"
Having similar errors on Sony Vaio PCG-8P1M - is not regular, although
the laptop is newly Ubuntu'd and has previously only run Windows XP.
A KDE crash handler report has also been submitted.
Sound continues to operate.

An update. Feisty doesn't have this problem. The kernel doesn't ship
with a module called realcap. Instead you'll need to build a
realtime-lsm-module using module-assistant just like in distributions

When Desktop Effects is enabled, fullscreening various apps (F-Spot,
gThumb, VLC Media Player) is not possible. When full-screened, a blank
screen is shown.
Recreate:
1) Load up VLC
2) Drag a movie file onto it. Play.
3) Double click to full screen it (screen goes blank)
However it is right, since divine conflicts with the package 'ifupdown',
which is depended on (directly or indirectly) by many other packages. I
presume it is because divine is a very intrusive package that wants to
take over certain critical networking functions.

OK, after more investigation, it has nothing to do with the mplayerplug-
in. The standalone Realplayer also crashes my system several times.
Rather, it appears that the problem is due to Realplayer using XVideo by

I did a search in Synaptic for "network find", and "divine" showed up in
the results. When marking it for installation, it says that ftp, telnet,
ubuntu-desktop, ubuntu-standard, etc, must be uninstalled. Needless to
say, that doesn't sound right...
