The difference seems to be that the shortcut for launching the terminal
is set in gconf setting /apps/metacity/global_keybindings (as is the
shortcut for minimizing all windows to show the desktop, for example),
while the shortcut for locking the screen is set in
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/keybind

I have the same problem with Feisty but I have read somewhere that the
same problem appears under Windows so it seems to be a Sony ACPI bug. If
I check the battery info under proc design capacity and last full
capacity are the same so it seems to work. Maybe there is a workaround

there is a little mistake in my post about how I solved the problem. The

is wrong because ".config" is a file. The right thing to do is:

I have an A7N8X (chipset nforce 2) and problems still persist using
kernel 2.6.20-16-386. If booting with the dapper (6.06.1) CD usb devices
work fine. Thanks for your effort.

I face the same problem on an IBM T30 laptop. Boot up -> USB works (ie.
mouse) -> close lid -> suspend -> open lid -> mouse doesn't work
(optical mouse -> led not glowing). MODULES variable is empty in my case
in acpi-support.

It is still not working. I'm still having the same problem. I found a
solution to make it work so it does sound, but I need to disable ACPI .
I'm using kernel 2.6.20 (Linux version 2.6.20-16-generic

I have the same problem with 2.6.20-16-generic (CD/DVD writer not detected
anymore).
My workaround is to use the previous kernel 2.6.20-15-generic.
