Thanks for tracking it down. Based on this, I agree that this is likely
due to the nVidia drivers not supporting XRandR 1.2. For future note,
the -dbgsym packages are available from "deb
http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs gutsy main universe". Also,
typing "bt" at the gdb prompt prior to quit

Too bad about the Proview, but let me see if I understand the remaining
issues properly:
a. When booting the LiveCD, it detects your onboard video card and configures
xorg.conf to use it instead of the added radeon card. (This sounds sort of
like Bug #75316, except the opposite, or like bug 10
This is a wild shot but it may help, I have seen this happen on my
system if I had a usb flash drive plugged in while rebooting it would
give the same error 22, after removing the usb drive and rebooting grub
booted just fine.

After installing Ubuntu 7.04 386 on a acer aspire 9810 post the 1st
reboot if USB flash drive is plugged in a error 22 will show instead of
the bootloader (grub), this only happened while the usb drive was
plugged in after removing the drive and rebooting grub loaded just fine
Reviewing my notes, I am not being clear. I have not experienced the
"blurs out" issue with the fonts but the crash prevents tilda from
loading.

Looking a little closer into the source code it appears that n-c-b is
being compiled without gnome-mount support. Something is wrong in the
autotools stuff such that it doesn't find gnome-mount and refuses to

I tried to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 7.04 and was unable to. The
page preview pops up immediately and doesn't show a spike in CPU
utilization on my system monitor.

An strace revealed this:
