I've tested this on Gutsy, and haven't been able to reproduce the
result, though I did review the debug that you provided (Thank you for
that). I suspect that it may be due to avahi-daemon either not being
installed, or not a
Using Kubuntu 7.04 and am still seeing this problem. Took me a few days
to find this workaround. Added acpi=noirq to the the grub menu.lst at
the end of the kernel line and I am now able to use ethernet. Had to do
this again after doing an update.

I have a notebook with a Celeron M 1.5 and had this same problem. It
went away after adding "p4-clockmod" (without quotes) to /etc/modules.
It even added the ability to change the CPU governor (showed as CPU
policy). Hope this helps.

It didn't seem to me that my device (canoscan lide 25, plustek) was
crashing. Being able to run scanimage multiple times in sequence
suggests that suspend works fine as long as the device is resumed
properly. If I'm wrong about that I'd like to know in more detail
what's really happening. The re
It looks like libgconfmm-2.6's soname didn't get incremented even though
there was an ABI change... All packages depending on it now die with
that error. Unfortunately, they seem to all FTBFS too, due to some
glademm linking error.

Crashes every time:
1. Log in as "test1" in an XNest session.
2. Start Tomboy.
3. Switch desktops in the main X Session before Tomboy appears in GNOME Panel.
4. Wait a bit (for Tomboy to start up, presumably).

OK I installed firefox 2.0.0.4 on a slackware box and it didn't suffer
the problem, so I copied the $HOME/.mozilla/firefox directory to the
ubuntu box and replaced the $HOME/.mozilla/firefox directory, and it has
fixed the problem, well it has on this box... I haven't tr

I was having the same problem, running with `gdmflexiserver -n -l`.
I removed Network Manager from the GNOME Session for that user, and the
problem went away.
Details:
Ubuntu 7.04 running on an older Pentium 4 desktop

On a more positive note, Synaptic and Update manager have started
working again, without any change on my part, or explanation from the
system. On the other hand, if one or both of these programs are not
genuine (see above at

Not sure if this is to be considered a "workaround" or a "solution," but
passing probe_mask=1 to the card in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base as
described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.20/+bug/114522 produces sound for me.
